Health, the greatest of all we count as blessings. - Ariphron Being and staying healthy, is very essential to a wonderful life. Health has been defined as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Not only do these components help the individuals that have a healthy body, it also is beneficial to everyone around them. We were not put on this earth and presented a life to waste it away sitting on the coach, eating potato chips, and being lazy bums. By leading an active life and eating nutritious foods, your quality of life with increase dramatically and you will be much happier. I believe that staying healthy is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and for others around you. The first, and probably the most important, thing you can do to improve your health is maintaining a good diet. A healthy diet not only gives you the nutrition your body needs to function, but it also provides you with a tremendous amount of energy. The food pyramid gives us a great understanding of what we should eat in order to give our bodies what they need. At the bottom of the pyramid sits the whole grains. These help with healthy weight management, reduce constipation, and reduce the risk of coronary artery disease. This food group may include pasta, whole-wheat bread, rice and crackers. The fruit and vegetable groups are just above that because they are the 2nd most important of the food groups.
